We are known as the Street Level Sanctuary. This is because we believe that Jesus modeled for us a ministry on the streets and in the community. That is where he trained his disciples and where he met the interesting folks he served and healed.

Our faith in Christ is meant to be on the move - going to places, some of them dark, where real life is unfolding for hurting people. Street Level ministry for us shows up for our neighbors who are experiencing homelessness, addiction, and deep personal struggle. In your area of influence it may look different.

When Jesus walked among people, He met them where they were—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. He listened before speaking. He offered dignity before direction. And He loved without conditions. Street Level ministry is our small way of trying to live that same posture today.

Being “street level” doesn’t mean having all the answers. It means being present. It means offering a meal, a conversation, a prayer, or simply a moment of human connection. Many of the people we encounter carry heavy burdens—addiction, isolation, trauma, and loss. We don’t see them as problems to fix, but as neighbors to care for and people created in God’s image.

This work changes us, too. Stepping outside the church challenges our comfort, deepens our compassion, and reminds us that faith is active. It pushes us to listen more closely, love more freely, and trust God to work in ways we may never fully see.

Active ministry and service is the meat and potatoes of Christianity and discipleship with Christ. This is where you see the Holy Spirit really move, when you get involved in doing the work of Jesus - saving, healing, and delivering people in your community.
